I’m delighted to announce I’m joining Pricing Culture, an AI content creation startup, as a co-founder along with Bhargav Shivarthy.
Pricing Culture is at the forefront of leveraging large language models to create the digital printing press for the modern era.
I’ve spent three decades creating or distributing content, primarily at Bloomberg and later at my own writing agency, Principals Media.
Many people believe we are awash in content. That we are drowning.
I think the opposite is true. There is a huge need and large opportunity to create machine-generated content, especially in niche areas and industries.
There may be a large amount of news articles, but a huge percentage spans narrow areas of interest that the press has traditionally covered.
There is an untapped market for insights that can be gleaned from the data that we now collect in modern society, everything from car registrations to time spent on apps streaming music.
Those insights are less accessible when locked in structured data, such as spreadsheets. They can be more easily absorbed, however, when “translated” by AI into text. It opens up the insights to non-experts.
In addition, we’ve realized that the language models driving the AI revolution require content to be trained and the traditional content is limited in scope.
We’ve realized that we can leverage private data to create content that provides LLMs training material.
For example, Pricing Culture has access via data provider Carbon Arc to a time series on vehicle registrations broken down by location, model and car maker. It’s a rich set that is hard to digest unless you are an industry expert.
Leveraging AI can unlock insights. One we saw recently was that Cybertruck registrations were outpacing EVs in general, particularly in the Northeast. Months later, people started reporting sightings of Cybertrucks in New York.
The reports we create on vehicle registrations can train language models and power AI workflows to answer questions about the industry.
Bhargav and I believe that there has never been a brighter time to create content. What’s required is a combination of unique datasets, domain expertise and clarity about how to process data and craft prompts to deliver accurate, high-quality textual narratives.
We currently deliver cost-efficient feeds about financial markets, venture capital, hedge funds, collectibles, sports betting and more. We are in the process of adding more feeds.
