When you leave Bloomberg you can’t return. There is an unofficial policy against rehiring employees.
There have been exceptions, of course, the most famous being Mike Bloomberg himself.
He left the company to spend 12 years as mayor of New York City and then returned in early 2014.
For the rest of us who quit or got fired there’s no going back.
But there is the annual meetup of BLP alumni – a tradition started a dozen years ago by Jeff Cohen, Samantha Foerster and Stuart Bell.
This year it’s being arranged by Samantha and Kevin Foley.
If you are ex-BLP and find yourself in the city, join us on Wednesday, Nov. 13th, for a cash bar at:
Capital Grill
200 Park Avenue
Nov. 13th
5-7pm
DM the hosts with questions. No need to RSVP.
PS: Mike himself actually showed up at the reunion in 2013. At the time he was still mayor and thus eligible as a former employee.
Samantha sent me a photo of Mike, Jeff, Stuart and herself at the event, which was held at the bar in the southwest corner of Bryant Park.
If you do happen to be Mike Bloomberg and you are reading this, feel free to pull a Timothee Chalamet and drop by.
I’m sure someone will buy you a drink.
