View from the Office.

I met up with Tommy Clark, the co-founder of  Bluecast, a startup that leverages AI to help people write social media content.

We went to Devocion in Flatiron. Tommy got the cold brew and I had a macchiato. We were lucky to get a table since it’s always packed.

We first connected after I noticed Tommy post about Bluecast on X. He wrote that it was a one-stop shop for creators to generate social media content. Intrigued, I downloaded the app.

I couldn’t figure out some of the features so I emailed customer support. A day or so later a Loom video arrived in my email with Tommy responding to the questions.

It made a big impression on me that a founder would take the effort to reach out like that. Impressed, I signed up for a trial.

Bluecast is well-designed and intuitive to use. My favorite features allow you to upload PDFs, Youtube podcasts and audio recordings to create story drafts.

One cool feature lets you assign pre-saved writing instructions, as well as a “voice” trained on your content, to generate posts.

The idea is that Bluecast will write your social media posts. I wouldn’t recommend relying on it — or any LLM –to do that entirely, but it can help get you started.

I’ve been using it to extract key bullet points from YouTube podcasts that I use for background.

Tommy grew up in LA. He got into online writing after starting a fitness side hustle in college. He realized he needed an Instagram presence to attract clients. Posting on social media led to more and more marketing gigs.

Soon after he graduated,  he founded his own agency focused on content creation for B2B software companies. He focused on helping founders build personal brands online.

That was three years ago. In the interim he connected with a friend who was building out a software solution to expedite content creation. They teamed up.

Tommy is normally in Austin but gets to New York regularly.

You can connect with him via LinkedIn or DM me for a warm intro.
