People tend to tweet about Facebook a lot in normal times. But these aren’t normal times for the company.

The number of tweets about Facebook more than quintupled in the five days after the story broke that Cambridge Analytica used Facebook data as part of a political profiling product.There were about 575 tweets every 30 minutes, compared with 100 during the first three weeks of February.

Here is what the spike looked like, based on data compiled by Bloomberg:

The sentiment for each tweet, as visualized by the lower line in the chart above, was overwhelmingly negative.

In the following days, the volume of tweets has diminished, but remains elevated, an indication that interest in the story remains robust.
