Bloomberg has stepped up efforts to add alternative data to gauge the fallout from the Coronavirus. To make it more visible we are leveraging automation technology.

The latest data set to be added is New York City subway ridership and this week we published our first automated story.

The article showed a 6.7% increase in people passing through the turnstiles versus last week.

Of course,  the context matters. Traffic is down 88% from the same period a year earlier.
