The expansion of Twitter as a breaking news source continues and was the reason my group at Bloomberg integrated social media into the terminal.

This post shows an announcement by the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Easter District of Pennsylvania announcing a major drug bust. This was the “official” announcement.

Note that the EDPA has even adopted the style common to news wires like Bloomberg of using an asterisk, and the phrase “BREAKING NEWS” in upper case before the post.
