Some people asked why Bloomberg, the premier financial news organization, would also need or want to carry content from Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal.

The analogy I made was to Netflix, which produces excellent shows like Orange is the New Black and Stranger Things, but also licenses programming to make its overall offering more compelling.

Bloomberg has 2,400 journalists in 120 countries. They write more than 5,000 stories a day and generate hours of television and radio coverage.

But Terminal clients also benefit from coverage by a variety of sources. Our partnership deals offer real-time access to scores of the best media sources in the world, from the New York Times to the Washington Post to the South China Morning Post. We also offer direct access to Twitter.

One of the lessons from Netflix and Bloomberg is that there is real value in the convenience and curation of great content on a single platform.
