I took this picture last week in Paris near Opera. The “building” in the middle isn’t real.

Its scaffolding that has been draped with a cover to blend in with the street scene.

It’s literally an illustration of the French expression “trump l’oeil.”

It’s certainly not necessary. You don’t see construction companies in New York going to those lengths.

But it definitely makes a difference.
