Every June in New York the FT puts on one of the best media conferences in the world.

There are great speakers like the NYT’s Dean Banquet, the FT’s Roulua Khalaf and Norm Pearlstine from the LA Times.

It also attracts great attendees: It’s where I met Craig Newmark from Craig’s List, who a few months later donated $20 million to CUNY’s journalism school.

My favorite part of the event occurs now, when you sign up and have to select your “Prefix” among options that include Ambassador, Baroness, His Highness, Sheikh, Datuk, Lord Mayor, Viscount and Chancellor.
