There has been a notable decline over the past several weeks in the wall-to-wall news coverage focused on the health risks of coronavirus.

The volume of daily articles focused on the virus has fallen about 25 percent since mid-March, based on data compiled by Bloomberg.

Ominously, we are seeing a surge in coverage about the economic fallout.

My chart today  illustrates the phenomenon by charting the volume of daily news articles about the virus against stories focused on “food insecurity.”
