It may seem like people tweet 24 hours a day.

They don’t.

Most days they get up and have coffee before they post online. In the evening they have dinner and go to bed.

There are bigger days, of course, but the rhythm is remarkably stable.

You can see that in the chart accompanying this post that shows the volume of financial tweets carried on the Bloomberg platform.

Its like waves breaking steadily on the shore.

That pattern was disrupted on election night when people didn’t stop tweeting. There was a dip, but people basically posted furiously all night.
