Global news coverage of Covid-19 has reached levels not seen since May, reflecting a recent surge in cases and deaths.

The chart shows the nominal number of daily articles about coronavirus carried on the Bloomberg system.

The volume of daily articles skyrocketed earlier this year, reaching almost 400,000 a day. That meant one in four articles were about Covid-19.

Coverage declined steadily during the summer as social distancing and travel restrictions limited outbreaks.
